On Friday 7 June 2024 the Pioneer Association in Scotland celebrated the Annual Mass for the Feast of the Sacred Heart in St Francis Xavier Church, Carfin, the Annual Sacred Heart Novena concluded at this Mass. The Mass was concelebrated by Fr Eamon Sweeney, Fr Jim Thomson, (both former Spiritual Directors) Fr Bernard Makadani Zula and Deacon George Frame.
At the end of Mass there was a presentation to members who had reached a milestone in their membership:
L to R: Fr Jim Thomson, Lynne Green (10 years) John Russell and Patricia Glancey both Diamond Jubilarian’s, and Fr Eamonn Sweeney. Both Diamond Jubilarian’s joined in St Margaret’s Centre, Airdrie within weeks of each other.
We are extremely fortunate and thankful for the continued support we receive from our Pioneer clergy and especially our former Spiritual Directors and members. Also, in attendance at the Sacred Heart Mass, we had a gathering of members who had also reach and in most cases surpassed their 60 years PLUS in membership.

Joseph Mangan joined the Pioneers in 1947 – 77 years ago, and of course Fr Thomson is not a Diamond Jubilarian, he is Silver Jubilarian.
